The bike didn’t look too damaged, so I picked it up as quickly as I could and managed to finish the stint. It wasn’t until I handed a slightly second hand looking bike to Jon that I realised I had a bit of a sore left wrist. I took my glove off and the bastard thing looked like a balloon. I’m not a doctor but I’ve broken enough bones over the years to have a good idea what it feels (and looks) like, and I’d have bet my house on my wrist being broken. So when the boss told me I’d ought to go and get it x-rayed at the circuit medical centre, I respectfully declined. I knew that if the doctors saw any sign of a break, they’d probably put a stop to me riding in the rest of the race.

From the ridge at Mont St. Jean, Wellington’s troops watched the arrival of the French rear-guard over their morning coffee. With the enemy’s forces still en route and the intervening fields too sodden to support cavalry or artillery, any serious operations were hours away, and thus a day that was to be full of terrors began in eerie, contrapuntal calm. In addition to his work as a session guitarist, Zappa busied himself with Happy Hour (a TV show for the USA Network which debuted in 1999 and was co-hosted with Ahmet ), and his first solo album in nine years, 2000s mostly instrumental Automatic. My teammates on the track were Johnny Blackshaw, one of my oldest mates, and Jon Railton, son of Team Boss David, but there was another fifteen or so faces in the team to get to know, all with a variety of important jobs.
There was a highly commendable sixth place in class for the #28 IDEC Sport ORECA, a crew which faced an uphill battle to rebuild the car after a practice crash, lacked track time and was forced to start from the pitlane. Its #17 sister car faced a similar fate and also finished the race.
RACER has learned the legendary French endurance race is set for a second consecutive calendar shift due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
